Main results for 2010
For the second year in a row, the TUDelft minor "3D Virtual Earth" has attracted students from different faculties interested in 3D geo-infomation, web technologies and visualisation. For the final projects of the minor, they had to build "their own 3D Earth model application" and they have produced great results.
A 3D web-based viewer for exploring massive aerial point clouds
Sjoerd Huininga (3ME), Monica Zeestraten (LR), Jasper de Lange (3ME) and Lars Wijtemans (EWI) have built a 3D web-based viewer for exploring massive point clouds, such as the AHN2 dataset (Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland---an elevation model covering the whole of the Netherlands).
Their application permits us to have an oblique view on the model, and even to generate on-the-fly movies of a given building or area.
Their results have even made it to the newspaper AD!

A web-based repository for the geo-data of the CCC project

Freek Küthe (EWI) and Remco van der Zon (EWI) have built a repository for the geo-data of the Climate City Campus project at TUDelft, which aims at making the campus a showcase for multidisciplinary environmental research.
They used a mix of technologies such as OpenLayers, GeoServer and PostGIS.
Implementation of a Web Processing Service (WPS) for edge-matching

Maikel Krause (EWI) and Sander Spruijt (EWI) have developed a web-based application that permits us to perform the edge-matching of GIS datasets in a novel way. The details of the algorithm are available in this paper, and the code is freely available. They have used the ZOO Open WPS platform to build their application.
